I was raised in Atlanta, Georgia. In the 1980's I attended Lansing Community College (in Lansing, MI) and then Michigan State University where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. In the early 1990s, I taught developmental mathematics at Lansing Community College. I then moved to Northwest Arkansas where I earned an M.Ed. at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville; I am currently pursuing a doctorate focusing on developing teaching methods for college students with cognitive disabilities, such as veterans with traumatic brain injuries. I have been teaching mathematics at Northwest Arkansas Community College since August 2000. I live with my three dogs and two cats, and occasionally travel to state and national educational conferences where I make presentations about my research.
